Olivia Torres is a newcomer to the MWDB photo scene. Check it out!

I've toyed with photography on and off for years. My first nice camera was a Minolta SLR (circa 1985). Though still in service, it's near retirement. In October, 2001 I got a digital: an Olympus Camedia C-2040Z. If the pixel count was low, the shooting experience was high. It sports a great Olympus F1.8 lens. Boy, what a difference seeing your shots right away!

Two years later, I traded up. Path: I tried the Canon G3 because it was popular and very highly rated. I returned it - too clunky, and it had an annoyingly unreliable autofocus mechanism.

Then, I tried the new Olympus C-5060 Wide Zoom. Nice, but I was too spoiled by the bright, F1.8 lens in my old C-2040 -- the C-5060 only opens to F2.8, which eliminates shots in marginal lighting and reduces depth of field options.

I went with last year's model, the C-5050Z - it's lighter and smaller than the C-5060; it can take three different memory cards, uses AA batteries, has the bright F1.8 lens and delivers 5.0 megapixels. Great info on this camera (and the C-5060WZ) at: http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/c5050/index.html
